FA-125CE Review

Fender FA-125CE Review

Review

The FA-125CE by Fender is a quality guitar and one of the best guitars for entry level players. This guitar is made in Indonesia. If you are someone who prefer looks, you won’t be disappointed by this guitar.

The FA-125CE Features a cutaway and looks more premium than FA-125. I would recommend you to buy an FA-125CE if the budget is not one of your main concerns and can add a couple of bucks.

The main reason fender launched this series is to give beginners a look and feel of their more premium cd60s. You get the Fender Branding and Build Quality with this series at the same time in a more economical package.

If we talk about the difference between CD60s and CD140s and the Fender FA-125 Series, the main difference will be that you will get a solid top in CD-60s and CD-140s. However, in the FA-125 series, you only get a laminated spruce top. Basically, the FA-125 series has replaced the CD-60.

Since this series is made in Indonesia, the quality and quality control is not something that you need to worry about.

The FA-125CE, unlike the FA-125, features a built-in tuner by Fishman pickup. The display of the tuner is fairly big and clear. You can see the notes clearly while tuning the guitar. This pickup has a Bass Knob, Volume Knob and a Treble Knob.

You get a Viking bridge which adds up to a good look and makes it feel like a premium guitar. This is not only fancy but also sturdy.

If you compare this with Cort ad880ce and Ibanez pf15ece, this guitar can give good competition to both of them. This is simply because Fender is providing you and Indonesian Manufactured guitar in this price range.

One of the most important thing that we need to look for is a neck profile. The neck profile is good in this guitar. The neck is very well built and is also slim. The build quality and the looks are good as well.

What impresses me the most is that Fender is offering a Fishman Pickup in this price point. If you look at brands like Ibanez or Cort, you wont be able to find a Fishman pickup in them.

If you don’t know, Fishman is a very famous company which manufactures pickups for acoustic and Electric guitars. The pick ups of Fishman are of a very good quality and I personally love them.

Features:

  • Laminated Spruce top
  • Laminated Spruce sides
  • Laminated Basswood back
  • Nato Neck
  • Rosewood Fretboard
  • And a Laminated Hardwood Bridge
  • Fishman Pickup with a Built-in Tuner
  • Cutaway Design
Pros
  • Affordable Pick
  • Durable and Lasting
  • Comfortable Playability
  • Excellent for beginners
  • Stunning Traditional Look
  • Comes with Cutaway
  • Built-in tuner by Fishman Pick up
Cons
  • No Solid Top – Laminate guitars are not the best investment
  • Not recommended for advanced players/Experts
  • Available only in one color
  • A cutaway may have an impact on the sound of the dreadnought.

If you buy the Fender FA-125, it is not available as a bundle compared to the CE version.

However, the Fender FA-125CE is available as a bundle.
This is primarily one of the reasons to recommend the FA-125CE which we reviewed over FA-125.

The bundle includes an FA-125CE Dreadnought Guitar, Case, Fender picks, Fender strings, Guitar strap by Fender, Fender play trial subscription, and Austin Bazaar Instructional DVD. The Fender Play trial and Austin Bazaar DVD can prove to be an extremely good resource, especially when you are starting out.

Although if you prefer something cheaper, the FA-125 it is. I’ll converse more about the pros and cons of each version.

Durability: Fender FA-125 and FA-125CE Review

FA-125 and FA-125CE Review of Durability

This dreadnought is an all-laminate guitar. It includes a spruce top, basswood back and sides, and gleaming completion. On account of its completion, it has an astonishing search in any event, for a customary plan.

Laminate woods make the FA-125 available at a lower cost. They are additionally tough and lightweight, which is great in the event that you plan on bringing your guitar any place you go to.

The main disadvantage for a laminated guitar would be the resonance, and value of the guitar after some time of usage.

This is where a solid top is needed. Their quality cannot be matched. However, you can always increase the age of your guitar with good care.

Neck

The neck of the FA-125 and FA-125CE features a Nato. The neck is slim and is a delight when held.

Fender FA-125 vs. Fender FA-125CE – Which is better for you?

This Fender series is more or less the same, except that the latter will have additional features.

The CE difference:

The CE in the name stands for cutaway and electric. So, owing to this the FA-125CE is a bit expensive compared to the regular FA-125.

Having a cutaway has its perks. If you plan on playing songs with high notes, a cutaway guitar is the right choice. With a cutaway, you’ll quickly reach 15th fret and up.

Even for beginners, having electronics isn’t a bad idea either. You may not use them at first, but sooner or later you’d have to learn them, right? At least with this guitar, you’ll have a choice of plugging it in whenever you want.

The Fender FA-125CE highlights Fishman electronics which will give your guitar a pure acoustic tone when you plug it in. It’ll also be reliable during your performances thanks to its small footprint pre-amp. It has a Bass Knob, Volume Knob and a Treble Knob.

Other than that, it features a built-in tuner, having something like this is a blessing.

Conclusion

If it comes to Recommend option FA-125CE is a solid deal.
The Fender FA-125 may be cheaper, but it is a better idea to go with the FA-125CE as it packs more value. While starting out it is good to look out to some Guitar Theory books for references.

The FA-125CE is still the better choice as a result of having great electronics, especially the tuner.

The FA-125CE has a cutaway, and if you plan on playing songs with high notes, a cutaway guitar is a right choice. If that is the case then you should opt for FA-125CE.
